Quality Assurance Manager (WMT)

Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the quality standards of all activities related to the transloading operations within the facility. The primary goal of this role is to ensure the effective management of quality assurance processes that meet regulatory compliance, safety standards, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. The QA Manager will work closely with operations, safety, and maintenance teams to identify areas for continuous improvement and ensure that the facility meets or exceeds industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Assurance Oversight:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures related to the transloading of products.
    • Establish and enforce quality control standards for inbound and outbound materials, ensuring product integrity throughout the transloading process.
    • Monitor product quality, track non-conformance incidents, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  2. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and industry regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality tests, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
    • Prepare and submit reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies as required.
  3. Team Leadership & Training:
    • Lead, train, and mentor the QA team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality standards.
    • Conduct regular training sessions for staff on quality assurance best practices, equipment handling, and safety protocols.
    • Oversee performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to enhance skills and productivity.
  4. Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive initiatives aimed at improving quality, reducing defects, and enhancing operational efficiency within the transloading processes.
    • Lead root cause analysis for quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize recurrence.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related concerns and enhance customer satisfaction.
  5. Inspection & Auditing:
    • Perform regular audits of the facility’s operations, equipment, and materials to identify areas of improvement.
    • Conduct inspections of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications.
    • Review and update inspection protocols to align with best practices and industry standards.
  6. Supplier & Customer Interaction:
    • Work with suppliers to ensure that materials and products meet quality standards before being transloaded.
    • Address customer concerns regarding product quality and work to resolve any issues quickly and effectively.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure transparency and trust.
  7. Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Analyze quality data and performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Prepare and present detailed quality reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
    • Use data-driven insights to make recommendations for process improvements and cost reductions.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance management, preferably in logistics, transloading, or manufacturing industries.
    • Previous experience in managing a QA team is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements, such as OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards.
    • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) is a plus.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, practices, and industry standards.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
    • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in a transloading environment.

Working Conditions:

  • The position is based in a transloading facility with exposure to outdoor elements and operational environments.
  • Requires the ability to work flexible hours, including potential weekends or evenings, depending on operational needs.
  • Physical ability to conduct site inspections and audits, including walking long distances, climbing ladders, and occasionally lifting materials.
