Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic to join our team within our West Memphis Transload facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of diesel-powered equipment, including trucks, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy machinery used in the transportation and handling of materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on diesel-powered equipment such as trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, identify problems, and develop effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure all equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
- Work with the operations team to ensure minimal downtime of critical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental requirements.
- Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems on heavy machinery.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and other mechanical repairs as needed.
- Order parts and manage inventory for equipment maintenance.
- Assist with equipment setup and breakdown during facility operations.
- Respond to emergency repair calls in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy machinery.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow safety guidelines while working.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Welding and fabrication experience a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to keep accurate records.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physical tasks.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy machinery, preferably in a transload or industrial environment.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and kneeling.
