Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic (WMT)

Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic to join our team within our West Memphis Transload facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of diesel-powered equipment, including trucks, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy machinery used in the transportation and handling of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on diesel-powered equipment such as trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, identify problems, and develop effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure all equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
  • Work with the operations team to ensure minimal downtime of critical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental requirements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems on heavy machinery.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and other mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Order parts and manage inventory for equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with equipment setup and breakdown during facility operations.
  • Respond to emergency repair calls in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy machinery.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow safety guidelines while working.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Welding and fabrication experience a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to keep accurate records.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physical tasks.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy machinery, preferably in a transload or industrial environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and kneeling.
